Wagering requirements: identify the base first

A wagering multiplier is incomplete without the amount it multiplies. The same number can describe substantially different obligations depending on whether it applies to bonus credit, deposit plus bonus, or another expressly defined amount.

The key points
  • Required qualifying stakes equal the stated base multiplied by the wagering factor.
  • Money returned from a completed round may be staked again, so cumulative wagering can exceed the original deposit.
  • Contribution rates, maximum stakes, deadlines and excluded games can change whether a particular wager advances the counter.

Translate the formula into euros

Required qualifying stakes equal the stated base multiplied by the wagering factor. For a €40 bonus at 20× bonus-only wagering, the arithmetic is €800. If a €40 deposit is also part of the base, the result becomes €1,600. Those are cumulative stakes, not predicted losses and not amounts you must deposit. The figures are hypothetical and are not lawful offer templates for every country.

Separate stakes from funding

Money returned from a completed round may be staked again, so cumulative wagering can exceed the original deposit. That does not make the requirement costless. Each round can lose money, and an account may run out before the counter reaches its target. A progress bar shows qualifying turnover rather than a probability of success. Do not treat unfinished wagering as a debt that obliges further deposits.

Apply local rules before generic arithmetic

Contribution rates, maximum stakes, deadlines and excluded games can change whether a particular wager advances the counter. National law can also limit these terms. Denmark’s current guidance, for example, states a ten-times ceiling and full contribution from permitted games. A hypothetical twenty-times example explains multiplication; it is not a description of a permissible Danish promotion.

A detail worth checking

Progress should be reconcilable with transactions. Record the starting target, each relevant qualifying amount and any later adjustment. A target that changes after acceptance needs an explanation: it could reflect another credit, a displayed remaining amount rather than an original total, or an error. Distinguish these possibilities before alleging a breach. Rounding also matters when contributions create fractions of a currency unit. Ask whether rounding happens per wager or on the aggregate, because repeated small differences can accumulate. None of these administrative questions requires making additional wagers; existing records are the evidence.

Visual comparison: the base changes the requirement

These three hypothetical conditions all use a 50-unit bonus and a 10× multiplier. The deposit-plus-bonus example adds a 100-unit deposit. The final example counts only half of each eligible stake. Amounts show cumulative turnover, not money you must deposit or a prediction of your loss. Check whether a condition is lawful locally; these are arithmetic examples, not available offers.

Two identical multipliers

A €30 deposit and €30 bonus produce €600 at 20× bonus only and €1,200 at 20× deposit plus bonus. The multiplier is identical; the base doubles. Record both the formula and the final total so a later dispute is about a specific calculation rather than the ambiguous phrase twenty times.

  1. Identify the relevant account event and preserve its original wording.
  2. Separate known facts from assumptions before drawing a conclusion.
  3. Use the applicable official source or complaint route when a material question remains.

Common questions

Is wagering the same as loss?

No. Wagering counts stakes. Outcomes determine how much remains, and completing a requirement does not guarantee a positive balance.

Must I deposit again if the bonus runs out?

No. An unfinished promotional requirement is not a reason or obligation to add funds.
