EU edition · Behind the guides
Research landscape & sources
The regulatory, support and information sources considered when building this edition. A qualitative sample, not a casino ranking.
Research with a clear purpose
This edition draws on a qualitative landscape of relevant regulatory, support and casino-information websites. It is not a measured “top 30” ranking, a recommendation of gambling services, or a traffic study. Primary sources support factual claims; commercial pages help identify common reader questions and gaps in explanations.
Checked during preparation on 25 October 2026. Search visibility is location-dependent and changes over time. No publisher’s article is reproduced here, and being listed does not imply endorsement.
Sources considered
| Website or resource | Role | What informed the research |
|---|---|---|
| ANJ | official national information | Product legality must precede bonus comparisons; online casino claims conflict with ANJ guidance. |
| GGL | official national information | Permission categories and territorial scope need separate fields. |
| Spelinspektionen | official national information | First-occasion restrictions refer to the licensee, not simply a brand. |
| Spillemyndigheden | official national information | Current national wagering rules invalidate generic international assumptions. |
| Kansspelautoriteit | official national information | Consent, protected groups and loss-based cashback need explicit treatment. |
| Belgian ConsumerConnect | official national information | Federal consumer guidance prioritises Commission recognition and distinguishes payout disputes. |
| DGOJ | official national information | Use current official operator information rather than historical promotional summaries. |
| SRIJ | official national information | Product licences and amendments must be read separately from brand identity. |
| ADM | official national information | Remote gambling concessionaires and exclusion scope belong in the reading path. |
| Malta Gaming Authority | official national information | Licensing and ADR access do not create universal EU market permission. |
| Austrian Finance Ministry | official national information | Monopoly/concession structure differs from a competitive foreign-licence comparison. |
| Polish Finance Ministry | official national information | Betting permissions must not be confused with online casino monopoly activity. |
| Estonian Tax and Customs Board | official national information | Company, brand, website and licence fields make a useful verification model. |
| Czech Finance Ministry | official national information | Dated official files require freshness checks and original product labels. |
| Finnish Police | official national information | Applications, effective dates and current monopoly rules must remain distinct. |
| European Commission | official EU framework | A country-first architecture is required because gambling frameworks differ across the EU. |
| Gambling Therapy | independent support | Support for players and affected others should remain accessible without promotional conversion goals. |
| StopSpillet | official support | Advice, treatment signposting and self-exclusion have distinct purposes. |
| Spelpaus | official self-exclusion | An exclusion explanation should state coverage and duration rather than present a generic stop button. |
| Casino.org | commercial publisher landscape | The portal separates guides, tools and news; this project adopts clear educational navigation without operator rankings. |
| AskGamblers | commercial publisher landscape | Search separates bonuses, complaints and glossary; educational content should likewise distinguish terms from dispute assistance. |
| Casino Guru | commercial publisher landscape | Country and product filtering reveal useful taxonomy, but commercial safety labels are not official permission. |
| Casinomeister | commercial publisher landscape | Status and jurisdiction categories show why licensing and complaint explanations deserve dedicated pages. |
| LCB | commercial publisher landscape | Large bonus and payment taxonomies expose common reader questions; this project explains mechanisms without offer listings. |
| CasinoOnline.de | commercial publisher landscape | German navigation mixes slots, table games and legal-casino labels; official legal categories should be made more explicit. |
| Casino.de | commercial publisher landscape | Whitelist framing highlights the importance of current official status rather than a generic foreign licence claim. |
| CasinoFeber | commercial publisher landscape | Swedish navigation distinguishes bonus-free play, free spins and cashback; national restrictions must control any explanation. |
| CasinoWings | commercial publisher landscape | Visible country editions demonstrate localisation needs; one global page should not imply uniform European permission. |
| CasinoArena | commercial publisher landscape | Czech operator and game navigation suggests a local information need; the project replaces promotional lists with official checks. |
| OnlineCasinosDeutschland | commercial publisher landscape | Visible affiliate disclosure clarifies commercial incentives; this project excludes affiliate links and operator recommendations. |
