Build a clear bonus complaint

A useful complaint identifies the disputed event, relevant condition and requested resolution. It separates account facts from assumptions and distinguishes a personal financial dispute from a report of possible regulatory misconduct.

The key points
  • Record acceptance time, applicable terms, deposits, bonus credits, relevant game transactions, withdrawal requests and the operator’s explanation.
  • Instead of saying the bonus is unfair, identify the clause and calculation.
  • National arrangements differ.

Create a short chronology

Record acceptance time, applicable terms, deposits, bonus credits, relevant game transactions, withdrawal requests and the operator’s explanation. Use transaction identifiers when available. Preserve screenshots with dates and URLs, but also retain downloadable records. Avoid sending unnecessary identity documents in public posts or attaching an entire bank history when a narrower statement establishes the point.

Ask a specific contractual question

Instead of saying the bonus is unfair, identify the clause and calculation. For example, explain that the terms state bonus-only wagering but the counter appears to include the deposit. Ask the operator to reconcile the figures, state its final position and provide the next dispute route. Keep copies of each response and any reference number.

Choose the correct escalation route

National arrangements differ. A regulator may investigate compliance without deciding a private payment dispute. Under MGA guidance, operators must provide internal complaints handling and access to registered ADR after that process is exhausted. Check the actual licence and contract rather than assuming one European complaint service handles every case. No route guarantees recovery.

A detail worth checking

Set out the remedy being requested. It might be an explanation, correction of a turnover counter, restoration of an incorrectly removed balance or processing of an eligible withdrawal. State the amount and basis without inflating the claim to include every past gambling loss. If the operator needs more information, respond with the relevant item and retain a copy. Record deadlines provided by the procedure, but do not invent a universal EU response period. Different authorities and dispute bodies have different powers, eligibility requirements and time limits, which should be checked on their own current pages.

Worked example · hypothetical

A focused request

A fictional complaint states: I accepted the attached terms on this date; my €20 bonus at the stated factor gives this target; the counter shows another amount; please explain the base and correct any error. This can be investigated more readily than a long narrative containing unrelated game outcomes and speculation.

  1. Identify the relevant account event and preserve its original wording.
  2. Separate known facts from assumptions before drawing a conclusion.
  3. Use the applicable official source or complaint route when a material question remains.

Common questions

Should I keep gambling while waiting?

There is no need. Continued play can alter the balance and make the record harder to understand.

Are public complaint sites official dispute bodies?

Not automatically. Distinguish publisher mediation from the recognised route identified in the contract or regulator guidance.
