Turnover, deposits and losses measure different things
A promotional counter can show hundreds of euros even when the initial deposit was much smaller. That does not mean the counter measures profit, loss or affordability. Each quantity answers a different question.

- If money returned from a round is staked again, it contributes to turnover again.
- A statement beginning after a deposit may show a misleading apparent gain, while one ending before a withdrawal may show a misleading cash outflow.
- Large qualifying turnover does not establish that further play is affordable.
Follow one euro through repeated stakes
If money returned from a round is staked again, it contributes to turnover again. Deposits count transfers into the account; turnover counts stakes; withdrawals count transfers out. Net cash movement can be calculated from deposits and withdrawals over a defined period, but an opening or closing balance also matters when describing account performance.
Include the time boundary
A statement beginning after a deposit may show a misleading apparent gain, while one ending before a withdrawal may show a misleading cash outflow. Record opening balance, deposits, withdrawals, closing balance and any adjustments. Restricted credit should be listed separately because it may not be equivalent to cash. A reporting period is part of the calculation.
Do not use progress as a spending budget
Large qualifying turnover does not establish that further play is affordable. Nor does a small net loss mean many hours of play were harmless. Financial and time limits are independent protective measures. If a counter encourages continued staking simply to reach a round number, step away from it and return to the original limit.
A detail worth checking
For a promotion dispute, distinguish actual turnover from credited turnover. If a lawful contribution percentage applies, the latter can be lower. Cancelled or refunded transactions may also be treated differently from settled wagers. A statement should identify those adjustments rather than adding every visible debit mechanically. For personal recordkeeping, keep time spent alongside financial totals: hours are not captured by deposits or withdrawals. This broader record helps prevent a narrow focus on money from hiding disrupted routines. None of these measures is a score to maximise or a target to complete.
Worked example · hypothetical
A small ledger
A hypothetical account opens at €0, receives €50 and later pays out €20 while retaining €10 cash. Ignoring fees and bonus adjustments, €20 has been lost across the period. Turnover might be €70 or €700; it cannot be derived from those cash-flow numbers alone.
- Identify the relevant account event and preserve its original wording.
- Separate known facts from assumptions before drawing a conclusion.
- Use the applicable official source or complaint route when a material question remains.

Common questions
Can turnover exceed deposits?
Yes, because returned funds can be staked repeatedly.
Is net deposit the same as session loss?
Not necessarily. Opening and closing balances, timing and adjustments must be considered.
