Reload and loyalty rewards are still incentives
Rewards for existing customers can appear as points, tiers, gifts or reload credit. Their names do not remove promotional conditions or national restrictions. Evaluate the underlying mechanism rather than the label.

- A reward may depend on another deposit, repeated stakes, a calendar schedule or reaching a tier.
- A points balance needs a conversion rate, expiry and description of what can be redeemed.
- Sweden’s first-occasion bonus restriction means recurring incentives cannot be assumed available just because an international loyalty programme exists.
Identify the activity being encouraged
A reward may depend on another deposit, repeated stakes, a calendar schedule or reaching a tier. Each condition can create pressure to continue. Ask whether participation was planned before the message arrived. A small reward can be behaviourally significant if it changes the frequency of gambling or turns a break into another session.
Translate points into actual rights
A points balance needs a conversion rate, expiry and description of what can be redeemed. Some rewards may be restricted credit rather than cash. A tier label can also offer benefits whose value is difficult to quantify. Do not treat points as savings or income; they arise within a gambling relationship and may depend on further spending.
Apply the local incentive rules
Sweden’s first-occasion bonus restriction means recurring incentives cannot be assumed available just because an international loyalty programme exists. Dutch guidance includes loyalty schemes within bonus advertising. These examples show why a publisher should not import a global rewards description into every national guide.
A detail worth checking
A reward period can also reset, creating a recurring feeling that previously accumulated points will be wasted. Read whether points expire, whether status depends on recent activity and whether unused benefits have any cash value. Those rules describe the programme; they do not create an obligation to preserve a tier. If the scheme repeatedly changes planned spending or makes a break feel costly, consider disabling the messages and discussing the pressure with a support service. The amount already spent to reach a tier cannot be recovered by spending more.

A tier threshold
A fictional account is close to a reward tier but would need more stakes to reach it. The difference between current and target points is not a debt or a reason to spend. Evaluate the reward only within the already chosen limit; if it falls outside, leaving the tier unfinished is a complete outcome.
- Identify the relevant account event and preserve its original wording.
- Separate known facts from assumptions before drawing a conclusion.
- Use the applicable official source or complaint route when a material question remains.

Common questions
Are loyalty points the same as cash?
No. Their redemption and expiry conditions determine their meaning.
Does calling a benefit a gift avoid bonus regulation?
Not automatically. National rules can consider the substance of the incentive.
