Germany: check the product and territorial permission
Germany requires more than a generic casino licence check. The official whitelist distinguishes virtual slots, online poker and online casino games. Some entries have nationwide scope; online casino permissions can specify a particular state. Bonus comparisons frequently conceal these differences.

- National permission matters more than international branding.
- Check the company, domain and game category together.
- Promotions never override local law or protective measures.
The local distinction that matters
Read the row for the actual game and record the operator, domain, category and territory. A virtual-slot permission is not evidence that every live table game may be offered throughout Germany. If a promotion combines slots and roulette, each activity needs its own applicable permission. The geographical scope must match the player.
Protection and practical limits
Publishers sometimes call virtual-slot websites online casinos in everyday language. The official register uses narrower categories. Preserve the original German product label alongside an English explanation so translation does not silently expand what is permitted.
A two-product promotion needs two checks
Imagine one banner advertises virtual slots and a live roulette reward. The slot domain may have a cross-state permission while the roulette service has a different territorial basis. The shared logo does not combine them. Read each whitelist category and the named competent authority; a state casino permission should not be described as a nationwide approval merely because the company also appears under virtual slots.
Keep the original category visible
For an English-language evidence note, preserve Virtuelle Automatenspiele, Online-Poker or Online-Casinospiele alongside the translation. That makes it possible to see what was actually checked. Record the territorial line too. If a promotional page uses the loose English term casino, the reader can then compare it with the official category rather than infer a broader permission. A later change in one entry does not automatically change every other product offered by the company. The national whitelist itself identifies the competent authority for each listed permission.
Common questions
Does one whitelist entry cover all games?
No. Read the product and territorial scope rather than relying on the brand alone.
Is a foreign licence enough?
Do not treat a foreign licence as a replacement for the applicable German permission.
