When translated bonus terms disagree
English-language bonus summaries often translate contracts written for national markets. A small translation error can change the wagering base, expiry event or withdrawal treatment. Keep the original text available.

- Words meaning deposit, stake, turnover, winnings and credit are not interchangeable.
- The account contract may identify a controlling language, but that does not automatically resolve every consumer-information issue.
- Automatic translation can help locate relevant sections but should not be treated as a legal determination.
Focus on consequential words
Words meaning deposit, stake, turnover, winnings and credit are not interchangeable. A phrase translated as play the bonus may omit whether the deposit is included. A statement about conversion may be mistaken for a payment deadline. Highlight these terms and compare the full sentence rather than translating an isolated label.
Ask which version governs
The account contract may identify a controlling language, but that does not automatically resolve every consumer-information issue. Ask the operator to explain a discrepancy in writing and preserve both versions as displayed when accepted. Do not silently combine the most favourable fragments from different language pages into a new offer that never existed.
Use translation as a reading aid
Automatic translation can help locate relevant sections but should not be treated as a legal determination. National regulators often provide their own player guidance, sometimes in English. Use that material to understand the local framework, then resolve the specific contractual wording. If a material term remains unclear, there is no obligation to accept the promotion.
A detail worth checking
Time expressions deserve the same care as financial words. A translation might turn within seven days after acceptance into before the seventh day, or omit the applicable zone. Keep dates and examples in the original currency and calendar format until the meaning is clear. Decimal commas and thousands separators can also reverse an apparent amount when copied between languages. If a summary contains a surprising number, verify it against the original page rather than repeating it. A concise bilingual note can preserve the exact phrase while recording the question still unresolved.
Worked example · hypothetical
A changed base
An original clause hypothetically says deposit and promotional credit, while a summary says bonus only. For a €40 deposit and €40 credit, that difference doubles the base. Save both pages and ask which calculation applies before consent. A familiar multiplier does not cure an unclear translation.
- Identify the relevant account event and preserve its original wording.
- Separate known facts from assumptions before drawing a conclusion.
- Use the applicable official source or complaint route when a material question remains.
